This election proved something to me. Scranton is not a patriotic town, and it sickens me. Anyone who is halfway patriotic could not vote for Doherty after he "saluted" our troops with his middle finger. I don't care what political party one belongs to or whether or not you agree with the Iraq war, these troops who are willing to put their lives on the line in a strange land with whackos trying to blow you up with suicide bombs IS A HERO. They fight so the majority of us do not have to, so we can sit here in the comfort of our homes and be with our families. many of them do not return home. Many children lost a parent. many wives lost a husband and vice versa. and all this mayor cared about was a stinkin basketball game. With what is going on in this world, that snub to our troops alone should have gotten the King voted out. I wouldn;t care if his record was otherwise great, after that one-finger salute to our troops, nobody should have been able to vote for him with a clear conscience. I guess Scranton Preppies are too hoidy-toidy for the military, so they do not appreicate their sacrifice. They have money, so they get to go to their hoidy-toidy Jesuit colleges rather than the working class kids, many of which have no other viable options than to join the military. Shame on every unpatriotic piece of crap who voted for this despicable bottom-feeder of a mayor.

No extra money in hard times for military families, but plenty for Sara Hailston, Lisa Moran, and the rest of the unqualified bottom-feeding cronies who leech off of our 3.4%. Water slides, eroded trails, self-prasing billboards, raises for cronies, KOZ's for contributors, restoring the pride signs....but no celebration, award, recognition, or even a simple "thank you" to our city's soldiers. Shame on you, Doherty, you are a piece of crap excuse for a human being. "restoring the pride?" Just the opposite, you, King Chris, make me embarrased to say I live in Scranton.
