Senator, I credit your acknowledgement that your vote was a mistake. Seriously though, how can you try to make us believe that the mistake was a result of late hours. This gaming debacle was the result of behind-the-doors negotiations between Rendell and the House and Senate Leadership. You are the Republican Leadership in the Senate. Both the Senate and the House are controlled by Republican majorities. Stop cowtailing to the special interest money people. Respect the voters and taxpayers in this Commonwealth and start opposing and repealing non-sensical legislation that is designed to treat property owners unfairly. ACT 72 doesn't provide meaningful property tax relief to anyone, because it doesn't guarantee permanent relief.
But you don't understand, we have to arrive at a concensus in these matters. And the concensus that weekend (like most) was that none of us ever knows what the heck we're voting on anyway.
You act like I should be up here actually opposing the Democrats. Geez, buddy, don't you know how this town works?
As my buddy Ed says, 'There's a lot of anger here in Harrisburg' over the school boards' refusal to opt in. So now we're just going to make it mandatory anyway.
Local control? That's for you old-fashioned free market types.
