I think that he is probably concentrating all of his energies on his reelection campaign. If he loses, he can kiss his White House ambitions goodbye. Only a giant idiot would run for the White House after losing their Senate Seat (Carol Mosely-Braun comes to mind).
I'm not sure that Santorum would want to run for the White House in 2008. Sitting Senators have a terrible record at being elected President (JFK was the only in the last 100 years), but sitting and former Governors have had a lot more success (FDR, Carter, Reagan, Clinton, Bush). Perhaps is Santorum wins next year there will be a rematch in 2010 for the Governor's mansion.
lets look at him electorally: No current blue states (except on a bad day PA maybe) would go for him he wouldnt sit too well in Ohio Florida is still unstable from the Schiavo disaster. That might haunt him. other thoughts?
