Here is a perfect example of entrepreneurial governance: McTiernan has absolutely no problem with the city putting up money to fix the facade on downtown buildings under the guise of gentrification and attracting bohemians but he vehemently rejects spending a few dollars (if that!) for address numbers in the name of public safety.
Speaking of people from the ICN, the zero-tolerance regime was out full force this weekend seeking whom they may devour (and processing those without cards). I must admit, it is great knowing people from the ICN. I knew about the DUI sweeps and the pull-you-over-for-whatever-reason before it happened! No, I didn’t consult a Precog (like Tom Cruise errr OffICNer Duffy does). I just kept my ears open at Kevin Murphy’s party! To my surprise, the event was filled with an allstar line up of agents of social control [I thought that OffICNers would be at a O'Boyle or Courtright party]. Besides the stay out of jail free card, another reason why the ICN dodge DUI is because as soon as an OffICNer knows that a saturation patrol is going to happen he/she tells pretty much everyone in his gene pool via Nextel. After this weekend I am convinced that DUI is PURELY market-driven.
The Jr. Council is getting pretty ridiculous. Besides the bickering and politicking (damn, even the jr. council is ICN) within jr council and the divine intervention from gods like Bob Bolus, all the mortals can do is plant flowers in Greenridge and fulfill a few of the roles that the City of Scranton relinquished in the shift towards entrepreneurial governance. The Jr Council is very distracting to city business and obscures the issues that are going on behind the scenes. It's bad enough they want to come back in 10 years and rake us over the coals like the ICN of today
