Al Boscov, aka Boscovs Dept. Store hasn't paid taxes in years to Binghamton and this mayor has handed him the key to the bank vault with all kinds of grants and loans to keep Boscovs here.
Many of us want Boscov's out but after much secrecy the mayor and his non governmental friends made a deal with ol Al til 2006.
The assinine city council passed this deal but Binghamtonians and Council Members have yet to see the contract with Boscovs and repayment of some taxes Al agreed to pay back to the city.
Word on the street is Al Boscov will pull out of Binghamton in 2006 using the excuse he is losing money here ( what does he expect the store is a rat hole which he hasn't fixed up in years and most of his merchandise is cheaply made according to rumor of consumers that shop at his store).
Boscov is trying to get a grant from NYS and Senator Chuck Shumer to put in a new Boscovs up near Saratoga New York which Boscov claims would bring in alot of money for the state.
If its anything like his deal with Binghamton ,Boscov will suck the state funds dry and then pack up and leave.
Keep your eye on your local Boscovs in Scranton and any and all grants given to the business because something stinks.
