Looks like Seig is done. We're 7 days out and he still hasn't purcahsed any TV time, he hasn't sent out any direct mail pieces and/or letters, and he hasn't purchased any radio time.
It's so sad when such a promising candidate goes so soon.
In one week, when Tom Munley wins on both ticket,s everyone will ask,"Say it ain't so! How did it happen Big George?" Well, I'll tell you.
The truth of the matter is that Jaime Brazil ran the campaign into the ground. TV ads were filmed and ready to go 2 weeks ago, but campaign mismanagement on Jaime's part led to the ads being held up by a lawsuit filed by the person who filmed the ads. Seems she was never paid for her services, and refused to grant access to the ads until she was paid in full. Goodbye $30,000 to settle the lawsuit and avoid newspaper coverage of it. Hello campaign debt.
Also let's factor into account that Munley's ground game has been a thing to behold. Hundreds of Republicans phone banked every night for the past 3 weeks, canvasses to key areas, several direct mail pieces, and a TV ad with everyone's favorite Republican, Dave Wenzel. Some donors saw the writing on the wall and started having second thoughts about sending money to Seig's campaign.
There was one, clear hope that Seig could prevail. Seig, through the involvement of the DA's office, attempted to leak a story to The Scranton Times that would portray Tom Munley in a negative light. The Times, always looking for idle gossip and stories that could hurt Democrats, picked up the bait. Seig's Team jumped for joy...it appeared, yes, Jaime Brazil, there would be a Santa Claus this year and his name would be Times Shamrock. Unfortunately, the story was pulled at the last minute for "reasons of legality." I guess the Time realized that running a negative story about the leading Judge candidate a week before the election had impropriety written all over it.
But don't worry, George. Your future is bright. After Munley kicks your butt in next weeks' election, you can go back to doing what you do best...illegally leaking stories to The Scranton Times. And when Jaime is finally brought to court for his drug addiction, you can make sure he gets a slap on the wrist as payback for the wonderful job he did running (ruining?) your campaign.
Maybe you should have watched TV today. He ran several spots during the morning shows and the talk shows all day. He has two commercials airing right now. Second on the legal matters, I think that was a threat made if not paid and she was so there is no issue there. And as far as the leak, I thought that was stopped when there were threats of litigation. I don't know where you get your info but if you are going to post, you might at least want to watch a little TV to see his commercials.
Something else to consider. Both of the democrat candidates have run TV and several mail pieces for the last 3-5 weeks depending on the campaign. Both already have high name ID and probably aren't going to find many other folks that don't know who they are. Seig can only go up, as his opponents have reached their pinnacles. He hits TV non stop for the next 7 days, does oodles of mail, and has a good ground game on election day and he wins the Republican nomination. Even if he is behind by a few points, that is him being behind after doing nothing. Examine the polling numbers. If he is only behind a few points and hasn't turned it on yet, when he does (which he is as of today) I think you are going to see major shifts in the numbers...IMHO. Remember, he had more money left over than both candidates as of the May 2 filing. Just a thought.
Counterintuitive logic, Wolfe. No matter how you slice it, the fact that Seig only gets to air his TV ads, send out his direct mail, and operate a ground game for the last 7 days is a bad thing. Munley and Penetar have been doing those things for weeks. It puts Seig at a disadvantage as he's forced to play catch-up. I'd rather be the guy who is 10 plus points ahead a week before election day, rather than the guy who is frantically trying to bridge that gap in those 7 days.
Ok, the ground game has been planned by pros for over a month now. He has been mailing for over a month now. He is going to saturate TV for the last week...you know when people actually pay attention to a low profile race. The other two have wasted literally hundreds of thousands of dollars on TV and seen their poll numbers stay the same. They are maxed out. Seig can blitz them now, make them spend money they don't have since they dropped their nut early, and then they get to play catch up. I mean have you looked at their campaign finance reports? George raised more than Munley. The only reason he has any cash is he loaned his campaign $110,000.
Also, it isn't a frantic run, it's called a sleeper campaign. It is strategy at work. This was planned not a result of some financial problem or lack of planning. It will be Munley and Seig which is exactly what the Seig campaign wants.
The only other oddity would be if Ed Mitchell somehow convinces Penetar to go against everything he has said about the campaign and to start a typical Ed Mitchell mud slinging contest. Ultimately, that would send him the way of Pat Casey (he ran both of his campaigns).
Seig has NO money left. That's right, he's broke. Caput. Zip. Zilch. Better luck next time, loser. There will be no direct mail. No radio ads. Only $1,800 of TV ads (which ads up to about 9 TV spots).
